The newest addition to my free pattern library is this adorable Newborn Cocoon Crochet Pattern. This crochet project is incredibly easy to crochet and a perfect crochet project for beginners! It also makes such a unique and thoughtful gift for babies, or a baby shower gift, but also for your own little ones.
Newborn Cocoon Crochet Pattern
Supplies
Knit Picks Brava Sport — 1 skein
Any other Sport Weight Yarn (#3)

Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St: stitch
Dc: double crochet
2dc: double crochet 2 stitches in same stitch (increase)

Size
Gauge
Approximately 3.75 stitches per inch, in front post double crochet.
Note
Chain 3 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to the first stitch.

Newborn Cocoon Free Crochet Pattern
Ch 2.
Round 1: 12dc in 2nd chain from hook. Join. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2. 2dc in same st, *2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2. Dc in same st, 2dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (36 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next st, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (48 sts)
Round 5: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (60 sts)
Round 6: Ch 2. Dc in same st, *dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (60 sts)
Repeat round 6 until piece measures 10-11 inches (or desired length).
Edging
Ch 1. Reverse single crochet in each st around. Join. Fasten off.
Ribbon Tie
Cut a piece of ribbon that is approximately 20-22 inches long (or desired length). Weave the ribbon through the round of stitches just underneath the edging round. Tie into a bow.
