Hooded Scarf Knitting Pattern
Scarf
Using size US 15 needles, cast on 13 sts.
Row 1: *K1, P1; repeat from * across.
Repeat row 1 until the scarf measures approximately 40 inches long.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Hood
You will be picking up and knitting stitches from the long edge of the scarf.
Fold the scarf in half, finding the center. Measure approximately 5 inches to the right and attach the yarn.
Row 1: Pick up and knit 42 sts evenly along the edge of the scarf. (RS)
NOTE: You can use the center point for a reference when doing this. When you reach the center mark, you should have about half of the sts picked up, with the other half being picked up on the other side of the center mark. This will ensure that your hood is centered on the scarf.
Row 2: *P1, K1; repeat from * across. (42 sts)
Row 3: *K1, P1; repeat from * across. (42 sts)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the hood measures approximately 12 inches.
Cast off in pattern.
Fold the hood section in half, and sew the top seam. I prefer the mattress stitch, but you can use any method of your choice.
Weave in ends.
