Approximately 4 sts/inch in Stockinette Stitch
Knit Yoda Hat
Cast on 52 stitches.
Row 1: *K2, P2; repeat from * across.
Repeat row 1 until hat measures approximately 1 inch. From this point on, you’ll be working in stockinette stitch for the main part of the hat.
Next row: knit each st across.
Next row: purl each st across.
Repeat last 2 rows until hat measures approximately 4 inches total, ending with a purl row.
Decrease/crown shaping:
Row 1: *k11, k2tog; repeat from * across. (48 sts)
Row 2 (and all even-numbered rows): purl each st across.
Row 3: *k4, k2tog; repeat from * across. (40 sts)
Row 5: *k3, k2tog; repeat from * across. (32 sts)
Row 7: *k2, k2tog; repeat from * across. (24 sts)
Row 9: *k1, k2tog; repeat from * across. (16 sts)
Row 11: *k2tog; repeat from * across. (8 sts)
Cut yarn, leaving a length of yarn that is long enough to sew the back seam of the hat. I usually leave 12-16″.
Thread the yarn onto a yarn needle. Weave the needle through the remaining stitches on the needle, and remove the needle. Pull tight to close.
Bring the two edges of the hat together and sew the back seam with the remaining yarn tail. Weave in ends.
Yoda Ears {make 2}
Cast on 14 sts. Make sure to leave a length of yarn, after the cast-on is finished, to sew ears to hat.
Row 1: Knit each st across.
Repeat row 1 until the ear measures approximately 2.5″.
Next row: k2tog, knit to end
Next row: knit
Next row: knit to last 2 sts, k2tog
Next row: knit
Repeat the last 4 rows. (10 sts)
Next row: k2tog, knit to end.
Repeat the last row until 2 sts left.
K2tog. (1 st)
Bind off.
Using the length of yarn left from the cast on, sew the ears to the hat.
Weave in ends.

How much yarn does this really require to make? I would hate to make this only to find out I don’t have enough yarn to finish!
Thank you!

Hi there!
This hat requires a tiny bit more than 100 yards for the hat and the ears. :)
