Just in time for the big summer holiday is a free crochet pattern for a wine bottle cozy or gift bag! Use the same festive colors, or use any other colors for all-year-round use. These are perfect for gift giving too!
Free Crochet Pattern Wine Bottle Cozy
Supplies
Worsted Weight Yarn; small amounts of red, white, and blue (or colors of your choice)

I (5.5 mm) Crochet Hook

Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St/sts: stitch/stitches
Dc: double crochet
Hdc: half double crochet
Special Stitch: Puff Stitch Heart
(Yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over and pull up a loop) 2 times, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook, ch 1, (yarn over, insert hook into st, yarn over and pull up a loop) 2 times, yarn over and pull through all loops on hook. Do not chain 1 at the end.

12 inches tall (un-stretched) and 11.5-12 inches around center
Gauge
Approximately 1 full Puff Stitch Heart stitch/inch
Note
The finished wine bottle cozy/carrier has a good amount of stretch when it’s being carried, so it will be suitable for short or tall bottles.

Wine Bottle Cozy or Gift Bag
With blue yarn, chain 2.
Round 1: 12dc in 2nd chain from hook. Join. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1. 2dc in each st around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1. *Puff Stitch Heart in next st, skip next st; repeat from * around. Join to first Puff Stitch Heart. (12 puff stitch hearts)
NOTE: Be sure that you are only working a chain 1 as the center of the Puff Stitch Heart, and not in between the Puff Stitch Hearts.
Round 4: Slip st in the ch 1 space “center” of next Puff Stitch Heart. Ch 1. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in that ch 1 space, and in the ch 1 space “center” of each Puff Stitch Heart around.
Repeat round 4 until there are 3.5 inches of pattern stitch in blue.
Change to white yarn.
Repeat round 4 until there are 3.5 inches of pattern stitch in white.
Change to red yarn.
Repeat round 4 until there are 2.5 inches of pattern stitch in red.

Next round: Slip stitch in the ch 1 space “center” of next Puff Stitch Heart. Ch 1. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in that ch 1 space and in next ch 1 space. Ch 10. Skip next 2 Puff Stitch Hearts. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in next 4 ch 1 spaces. Ch 10. Skip next 2 Puff Stitch Hearts. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in last 2 ch 1 spaces. Join.
Last round: Slip stitch in the ch 1 space “center” of next Puff Stitch Heart. Ch 1. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in that ch 1 space and in next ch 1 space. Work a hdc in next 10 ch sts. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in next 4 ch 1 spaces. Work a hdc in next 10 ch sts. Work a Puff Stitch Heart in last 2 ch 1 spaces. Join.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
