Note:
1. This hat is joined at the end of rounds. The chain stitches at the beginning of rounds do not count as a stitch, and you should join to the first stitch.
2. To make this hat a slouchy style, add extra rounds during the part of the pattern where you are working on the maximum number of stitches and repeating the two pattern rounds.
Gauge
2.5-3 stitches/inch in double crochet

Round 1: 12dc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2. 2dc in same st, *2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2. Dc in same st, 2dc in next st, *dc in next st, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (36 sts)
Round 4: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next st, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (48 sts)
Round 5: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next 4 sts, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 5 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (56 sts)
Round 6: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next 26 sts, 2dc in next st, dc in next 27 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (58 sts)
Round 7: Ch 2. Dc in same st, fpdc around next dc from prev round, *dc in next st, fpdc around next dc from prev round; repeat from * around. Join. (58 sts)
Round 8: Ch 1. Fpdc around dc from prev round, dc in next st, *fpdc around next dc from prev round, dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (58 sts)

I would suggest having approximately 150 yards for this hat. Less if you don’t want it slouchy, and if you want it very slouchy maybe a tiny bit more. :)
