Size
Average ladies
Note:
- When joining at the end of rounds, join with a slip stitch to the first fpdc from the beginning of the round. These joins end up having a seamless effect, and very difficult to notice.
- Adjust your hook size, as necessary, to obtain the correct size if it is different than the listed sizes. Personal gauge/tension can vary.
Gauge
approximately 3-3.25 sts/inch in the stitch pattern
Special Stitch: Reverse Slip Stitch
Working left to right, insert hook in next stitch to the right, yarn over, pull loop through stitch, and loop on hook.

Visor
Note: The sc sts in the even-numbered rows will be worked “1 row deep.” To do this, work the sc through the st 1 row below, and over the reverse slip sts just made. This makes an extra sturdy stitch for the visor.
Fold the hat in half, with the back of the hat away from you, top of the hat facing downward, and opening of the hat facing upwards. Line up the middle edge of the back of the hat (back seam) with the middle edge of the front of the hat.
Attach yarn to 2nd st in, on the left side.
Row 1: Ch 1. Reverse slip stitch in each st across, moving to the right, to the 2nd to the last stitch before the fold. (You should now have reverse slip stitches along what will be the front bottom edge of the hat).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, and in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st, sc in each st until last 5 sts, 2sc in next st, sc in last 4 sts.
Row 3: Ch 1. Reverse slip st in each st back to the right side.
Row 4: Ch 1. Skip 1st st, sc in each st until you reach the middle of visor sts, 2sc in next st, sc in each st until 2nd last st, leaving last st unworked.
Row 5: Ch 1. Reverse slip st in each st back to the right side.
Row 6: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Do not fasten off. 2sc in corner st of the brim, sc evenly down the side of brim, sc in each st around the bottom of the hat, sc evenly up the other side of brim, 2sc in corner st of the brim. Slip st to join to 1st or 2nd st on front of the brim.
Repeat rows 5 & 6 two one or two more times, or until the length of the visor is to your liking.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Note: For a longer visor, repeat rows 5 & 6 until you’ve reached the desired length.
