Hood
NOTE: For the textured stitch of the hood, you will always be working the single crochet stitches into the double crochet stitches from the previous row, and you will always be working the double crochet stitches into the single crochet stitches from the previous row.
Begin working with the main color.
Row 1: Ch 1. *Dc in next st, sc in next st; repeat from * for 34 sts total, dc in next st. (35 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next st, dc in next st; repeat from * across, sc in last st. (35 sts)

Repeat rows 2 & 3 until the hood measures 12-13 inches.

Hood Seam
Bring the two sides of the top of the hood together, and hold them so that they are right side out.
Using the attached yarn, seam the hood by working single crochet stitches across.
Work the stitches through all FOUR loops of both pieces of the hood. The seam should be on the outside of the hood.
Fasten off.
Hood Edging
Working with the main color, attach yarn to the front, bottom edge of the front of the hood.
Work single crochet stitches evenly around the entire hood opening.
Join to the first single crochet when you have worked all the way around.
Flip the edge of the hood back to make a small cuff.
Tie
With either color, make a chain that is approximately 24-30 inches long.
Fasten off.
Lace the length of chain stitches through the stitches on the front of the cowl and tie them into a bow.
