Ch: chain
St: stitch
Sl: slip

Newborn to 3 Months (fits a 12-14” head)
3 to 6 Months (fits a 14-16” head)

Gauge
Approximately 1.75 sts/inch. Please check your gauge to ensure an accurate finished size.
Notes
- This hat is worked seamlessly, in the round, for the first part. When the pattern instructs you to, begin working back and forth in rows.
- The ties for this hat can be made in several different ways. You can use ribbons, as I did in the hat pictured, or you can make braids or crocheted ties. All of those options work well and look nice.
- The depth of the hat (the length from the back of the hat to the front edge) can be adjusted to preference. If you’d like it to be shorter or longer, work fewer or more rows.

Crochet Bonnet Pattern
Newborn to 3 months
Ch 2.
Round 1: 10hdc in 2nd chain from hook. (10 sts)
{NOTE:} Place marker and move it up as you finish each round.
Round 2: *2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (20 sts)
Round 3: *Hdc in next 9 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (22 sts)
{NOTE:} Join to next stitch with a slip stitch. You will now begin working back and forth in rows.
Row 4: Ch 1. Hdc in next 20 sts. (20 sts)
Row 5-8: Ch 1, turn. *Hdc in next st; repeat from * across. (20 sts)
{NOTE:} This is where you can adjust the depth of the bonnet. Work fewer or more rows, as desired.
DO NOT FASTEN OFF.
Edging Round
Ch 1. Single crochet evenly around the bottom edge of the bonnet, around the back edge, and across the other bottom edge side. Join with a slip stitch to the top corner of the bonnet.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Follow directions for ribbon ties at the end of the pattern.

Ribbon Ties
Cut two lengths of ribbon for ties, approximately 16 inches long (this is the length that I used for newborn size; make them longer for larger sizes), or double your desired tie length.
Fold a piece of the ribbon in half, take the folded end and insert a couple inches of it through one of the front corner edge stitches of the hat. Take the two loose ends and pull them through the “loop” of the folded end. Pull tight.
Repeat for the other side.
