Notes
1. The length/width of this cowl can be adjusted to preference. If you choose to make it wider, it will also get longer due to the design.
2. The chain 4 at the end/beginning of each row does count as a double crochet and a chain 1. This includes the first skipped 4 chains in row 1.
3. The fringe to this scarf can be made with matching yarn, or you could use a contrasting yarn, ribbon, beads, ect. It has many fun options!

Chain 5.
Row 1: (Dc, ch 1) 3 times in the 5th st from hook, dc one more time. (5 sts)
Row 2: Ch 4, turn. (Dc, ch 1) in same st (the stitch that the chain 4 was made in), *(dc, ch 1) in next dc; repeat from * across to end. Dc in last st. (7 sts)
Row 3: Ch 4, turn. (Dc, ch 1) in same st (the stitch that the chain 4 was made in), *(dc, ch 1) in next dc; repeat from * across to end. Dc in 3rd chain of turning chain 4 from the previous row. (9 sts)
Repeat row 3 until scarf measures approximately 50-52 inches across, or desired width/length.
It should also measure approximately 26-28 inches from the top edge to the point. However, if it doesn’t that is okay.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Fringe
Using matching yarn (or yarn, ribbon, or other material of your choice), cut and assemble fringe.
I cut two 12-inch pieces for the end of each row.
Using 2 pieces of fringe, fold them in half and insert the folded end into the end stitch of the row until an inch or two of the “loop” is accessible. Then, take the 4 ends of the fringe pieces and put them through the “loop” and pull tight.
Repeat for the end stitch of each row around the scarf, or the desired amount of fringe.
