Hooded Scarf Crochet Pattern
Scarf
Chain 11.
Row 1: Hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, *hdc in next ch; repeat from * across. (10 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. (10 sts)
Repeat row 2 until scarf measures approximately 32 inches long.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Hood
Fold the scarf in half and find the center stitch. You will be working hdc sts into the edge stitches of the scarf to begin the hood.
Measure approximately 8 inches to the right, and attach the yarn.
Row 1: Ch 1. Hdc in same st, hdc an additional 29 sts evenly across so that you have a total of 30 sts that are centered onto the edge of the scarf. (30 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. (30 sts)
Repeat row 2 until hood measures approximately 10 inches tall. Do not fasten off.
Fold the top edge of the hood piece in half, and sew the seam a method of your choice. I prefer to turn it inside out and use slip stitches to seam it, but you can also use single crochet, or a basic whip stitch with a tapestry needle.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Attach two or three buttons to one half of the scarf. Fold the other half of the scarf over it and slip the buttons through the stitches to close.
