Super Bulky Weight Yarn (#6)

Scissors (try these — the cutest scissors ever!)
Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St: stitch
Sl: slip
Dc: double crochet
2dc: work 2 double crochet in same stitch (increase)
Dc2tog: double crochet two stitches together
Sc: single crochet
Hdc: half double crochet

Newborn to 3 months
Gauge
2 stitches/inch in double crochet

Baby Lamb Hat Crochet Pattern
Ch 3. Join into a ring.
Round 1: Ch 2. 12 dc in ring. Join. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2. 2dc in same space, *2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 3: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next 4 sts, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 5 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (28 sts)
Round 4-5: Ch 2. Dc in same st, *dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (28 sts) Fasten off.
Follow directions for earflaps, ears, and edging and ties.

Earflaps
Find the center of one side of the hat. Count 2 sts to the right, and attach yarn.
Row 1: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next 4 sts. Ch 2, turn. (5 sts)
Row 2: Dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog. (3 sts)
Row 3: Skip 1st st, dc2tog. (1 st)
Fasten off.
Repeat for the other earflap.
Ears
With Inside Ear Color, Ch 8.
Row/Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc, 2sc in last st. Working in leftover loops from beginning chain, sc in next st, hdc in next st, dc in next 3 sts, hdc in next st, sc in next st. Join to first st, using Outside Ear Color.
Round 2: Ch 2. Dc in same st, *dc in next st; repeat from * around, until last st. 3dc in last st. Join.
Fasten off, leaving a tail for securing to the hat.
Using tapestry needle and yarn tail from the ear, secure ear to hat.
Repeat for the other ear.
Edging & Ties
Attach yarn at the center back of the hat.
Work a sc in each st around hat. When you reach the center stitch of the first earflap, sc in that stitch and then chain 14.
Skip 1st stitch, and then slip stitch in each stitch back up the chain. This will be the first tie.
Sc in the sc where chain began, and then continue around the hat.
Repeat the tie process when you reach the other earflap, and then continue around the remaining part of the hat. Join with a slip stitch to first sc.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
