Size H (5.0 mm) Crochet Hook

Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St: stitch
Sl: slip
Beg: beginning
Dc: double crochet
2dc: work 2 double crochet in next stitch Sc: single crochet
2sc: work 2 single crochet in the next stitch
Sc2tog: single crochet the next 2 stitches together as one

Size
Newborn to 3 months
Gauge
1.75 stitches/inch in double crochet

Notes
1. Chain 2 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to first double crochet.
2. Beginning with round 2, work in the back loop of all stitches.
Christmas Ornament Hat Crochet Pattern
Hat
Chain 2 with super bulky weight yarn and size M crochet hook.
Round 1: 12 dc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (12 sts)
(Work in Back Loop Only from now on).
Round 2: Ch 2. 2dc in same st, *2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 3-5: Ch 2. Dc in same st, *dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
(Note: This is where you can adjust the length of the hat. If you’d like it shorter or longer, work fewer or more rounds.)
Fasten off.
Ornament Top
Chain 2 with worsted weight yarn and size H crochet hook.
Round 1: 8sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (8 sts)
Round 2: 2sc in same st, *2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (16 sts)
Round 3: Sc in same st, 2sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 4: Sc in same st, *sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 5: Sc in same st, sc in next 5 sts, sc2tog, *sc in next 6 sts, sc2tog; repeat from * around. Join. (21 sts)
Fasten off, leaving a long tail to secure top to the hat.
Secure ornament top to top of the hat.
Ornament Loop
Attach yarn to the center of the ornament top.
Chain 11.
Skip the first chain, sc in each remaining chain. (10 sts) Fasten off.
Secure the other end of the loop to the center of the ornament top.
