Size
Newborn to 3 Months
Notes:
- The chain 2 at the beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining rounds, join to first stitch.
- There are directions for two sizes of ears. One set is shorter, and the other is longer. You can choose to use the shorter ones for the smaller sizes, and the longer ones for larger sizes. The longer ones also look very cute on the smaller size hats!
- These ears are floppy, and will not stand on their own. They can be easily propped for photo shoots. You can also insert craft pipe cleaners in between the two layers to make them stand more.
Gauge
Approximately 2.75 sts/inch in double crochet

Ears — Outside
Ears are worked in two separate pieces. You can make them both the same color, or make the inside pink, or any other fun color!
Ch 15.
Row1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, (hdc in next ch,dc in next 2 chs, tr ch in next 6 chs, dc in next 2 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch).
Note: the way the stitches are worked next will make them “rounds” rather than “rows.” Continue to work around ear by turning the corner, and working in the loops left over from the original chains.
Round 2: *Ch 1. In each st, work the same stitch that matches from the previous row directly across from the st you are currently working. (example: sc across from sc, dc across from dc, ect.)
Do this all the way to other end of ear. Join to first st.
Fasten off.

Ear Assembly
Lay the pink part of the ear inside the back of the ear so they are nestled in together, and match up the stitches as best as you can. You will single crochet the two pieces together into one piece.
Make a slip knot, and put onto hook. Insert hook into the stitches on one end of the ear, going through both layers. YO, pull up a loop, YO, pull through loops on hook.
Continue around, working a sc through each st and both layers at the same time. When you get to beginning again, slip stitch to the first st to join.
Fasten off.
Repeat for second ear.
