Size
Average ladies
Note:
1. This hat is worked in joined rounds, but you will be turning at the end of each round.
2. Beginning with round 2, work the Bean Stitch into the chain 1 space of the Bean Stitch below. See picture on the next page.
3. This hat has an oversized, slouchy style. The “band” section uses a stitch design that has a natural “pull,” so it fits the head nicely even with the rest of the hat being oversized.
Gauge
approximately 3-3.25 sts/inch in the stitch pattern
Special Stitch: Reverse Slip Stitch
Working left to right, insert hook in next stitch to the right, yarn over, pull loop through stitch, and loop on hook.
This pattern is also available as an ad-free PRINTABLE PDF pattern that includes 4 sizes from baby to adult.

Repeat round 7 until hat measures 8-9 inches, or desired length, ending with a right side round (a round that faces the outside of the hat).
NOTE: This is where you can adjust the “slouchiness” of the hat. If you’d like it more or less slouchy, work more or less length.
Band
Round 1: Ch 1. DO NOT TURN, because you should already be working on the outside of the hat. *Hdc in next st, hdc in next chain 1 space; repeat from * around. Join. (54 sts)
Round 2-6: Ch 1. DO NOT TURN. *Fphdc in next st, bphdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (54 sts)
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
