Abbreviations

Ch: chain
St/sts: stitch/stitches
Sc: single crochet
BLO: back loop only
Fphdc: front post half double crochet
Bphdc: back post half double crochet

Newborn: 14 inches

Baby: 16 inches

Notes:

1. When you’re working the main part of this hat (everything except the edging), you will be working in the back loop only of the single crochet stitches for all rounds.

2. This hat is worked in rounds, but you will be turning at the end of each round for the main part of the hat.

3. The edging of the hat is worked in rounds, but you will not turn at the end of rounds.

4. The length of the hat can be adjusted to preference by working fewer or more rounds after the increasing is finished.

Approximately 3.25 sts/inch in stitch pattern

Easy Knit Look Beanie Crochet Pattern

Newborn

Chain 2.

Round 1: 8 sc in 2nd chain from hook. Join. (8 sts)

NOTE: From this point on, you will be working in the back loop only of the stitches, until you reach the edging rounds.

Round 2: Ch 1, turn. *2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (16 sts)

Round 3: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next st, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)

Round 4: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (32 sts)

Round 5: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next 3 sts, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (40 sts)

Round 6: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next 9 sts, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (44 sts)

Round 7: Ch 1, turn. *Sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join.

Repeat round 7 until hat measures approximately 4-4.5 inches.

Edging

Round 1: Ch 1. *Fphdc in next st, bphdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. DO NOT TURN.

Repeat round 1 for approximately 1 inch, or desired length of edging.

Fasten off.
