Free Crochet Pattern Elegant Headband
Supplies
Worsted Weight Yarn (#4)

Size I (5.5 mm) Crochet Hook
Tapestry Needle
1 1⁄4” button (the size of the button can vary by a small amount)
Scissors (try these — the cutest scissors ever!)
Abbreviations
Ch: chain
Rep: repeat
Sts: stitches
St: stitch
Sl: slip
Sk: skip
Sp: space
Dc2tog: double crochet next 2 stitches together as if they are one

The chain 1 stitches at the beginning of rows do NOT count as a stitch.
Gauge
approximately 3-3.25 sts/inch in the stitch pattern

Elegant Headband
Ch 6.
Row 1: Dc in 2nd chain from hook, and in each chain across. (5 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. 2dc in first st, dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in last st. (7 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. 2dc in first st, dc in next 5 sts, 2dc in last st. (9 sts)
Row 4: Ch 1, turn. *(Cl st, ch 1, cl st) in first st, *sk next st, (cl st, ch 1, cl st) in next st; rep from * across.
Row 5: Ch 1, turn. *(Cl st, ch 1, cl st) in next ch 1 sp; rep from * across. Repeat row 5 until headband measures 16” from the beginning edge.
NOTE: This is where you can adjust the sizing of the headband. Keep in mind that you’ll be adding approximately 2 inches at the finishing end.
Decreasing rows:
Row 1: Ch 1, turn. *Dc in next ch 1 sp, dc in the top of next cl st; rep from * across. (9 sts)
Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Dc in first st, dc2tog, dc in next 3 sts, dc2tog, dc in last st. (7 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, turn. Dc in first st, dc2tog, dc in next st, dc2tog, dc in last st. (5 sts)
Fasten off.
Using matching yarn, sew a button to one end of the headband and secure by slipping it through the double crochet stitches at the other end.
