My latest addition to the Free Crochet Patterns page is a free crochet hat and flower pattern. This cute hat features a multi-stitch design and a fun scalloped edge. Add the optional flower for embellishment, or leave it plain. Either way, it’s cute and fancy!

Keep in mind to allow for the extra length of the last round that makes the Shell Edge.)

Fasten off.
Flower
Note: If you want to adjust the size of your flower, change the number of beginning chains. Use a multiple of 4 sts.
Chain 28.
Row 1: Dc in the sixth ch from hook (5 skipped chs count as first dc plus ch 2), *ch 2, skip next 2 chs, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next ch; repeat from * across.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn. 5 dc in next ch 2 sp, sc in next ch 2 sp, *6 dc in next ch 2 sp, sc in next ch 2 sp; repeat from * around.
Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Roll the strip into a spiral shape, and when you’re finished it should look just like a rose!
Thread the yarn tail onto a tapestry needle, and sew through all layers multiple times to secure the rose together. Then use the same tail to secure the rose to the headband. Weave in ends.
NEVER LEAVE A BABY UNATTENDED WHILE WEARING THIS PIECE.

Where is the 2dc tog for the decrease? I didn’t see it in the pattern.
Posh Patterns says
Hi Kara,
The 2dc is an increase. :) To do the 2dc, work two double crochet stitches in the indicated stitch.
