Free Crochet Clutch Pattern
Chain 24.
Row 1: Insert hook into 2nd chain from hook, yo and pull up a loop, (insert hook into next chain, yo and pull up a loop) 4 times, yo and pull through all loops on hook, ch 1. *Insert hook into “eye” of star stitch just made, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into “side” of star stitch just made, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into “base” of star stitch just made, yo and pull up a loop, (insert hook into next ch, yo and pull up a loop) 2 times, yo and pull through all loops on hook, ch 1; repeat from * across, hdc in the last ch.
Row 2: Ch 2, turn. *2hdc in “eye” of next star stitch; repeat from * across, hdc in last st.
Row 3: Ch 3, turn. Insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into 3rd ch from hook, yo and pull up a loop, (insert hook into next st, yo and pull up a loop) 3 times, yo and pull through all loops on hook, ch 1. *Insert hook into “eye” of star stitch just made, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into “side” of star stitch just made, yo and pull up a loop, insert hook into “base” of star stitch just made, yo and pull up a loop, (insert hook into next st, yo and pull up a loop) 2 times, yo and pull through all loops on hook, ch 1; repeat from * across, hdc in edge st.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures 19-20 inches, ending with a row 2.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Sew the seams
Fold the bottom edge of the bag up, leaving 2 rows of complete star stitches (4 rows of stitches total) for the flap.
Attach the yarn at one corner of one of the sides and sew the seam with single crochet stitches.
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Repeat on the other side of the bag.
Sew a button near the center of the flap and slip it through the opening between the 5th and 6th star stitches to close.
