Gauge
Approximately 2.75 sts/inch in single crochet and size J crochet hook. Please check your gauge to ensure an accurate finished size.
Notes
- Chain 1 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to first stitch.
- During the increase rounds for the crown section of this hat, if you happen to develop a “wavy” edge, it is only due to the increasing that is taking place. To help this, work a regular round of stitches (without increasing) in between your increase rounds. This will “ease” the extra fabric being created by the increasing.
- Use the size J crochet hook for the hat, and the size I crochet hook for the flower.

Newborn to 3 months
Ch 3. Join into a ring. Round 1: Ch 1. 10 sc in ring. Join with sl st to first sc. (10 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1. 2sc in same st, *2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (20 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1. Sc in same st, 2sc in next st, *sc in next st, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (30 sts)
Round 4: Ch 1. Sc in same st, sc in next st, 2sc in next st, *sc in next 2 sts, 2sc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (40 sts)
Round 5-16: Ch 1. Sc in same st, and in each st around. Join. (40 sts) (Note: this is where you can adjust the length of the hat. If you’d like it shorter or longer, work fewer or more rounds.)
