Cupcake Hat Cherry On Top (red)
Note: This is the way that I make pom-poms. You may have a different way that you prefer and should use whichever way you like best. I like to keep this particular pom-pom smaller so that it resembles a cherry. J
- Using the piece of cardboard, and the yarn that you’ve chosen for the cherry/pom-pom, wrap the yarn around the cardboard many times. Wrap it more times than you may think is necessary so that your pom-pom is nice and full. Cut yarn to separate from the skein.
- Cut a 12” piece of yarn from the skein and lay it down. Gently slide the wrapped yarn off of the cardboard, and lay it on top of the yarn with the looped ends situated perpendicular to it, keeping it in the same shape and position as it was on the cardboard. It should be a bunch of loops, but stacked somewhat neatly and laying on top of the 12” piece of yarn.
- Carefully bring the yarn ends from the 12” piece up and around, and tie it in a knot. Make sure you pull it as tight as possible before securing the knot.
- With a scissor, cut all of the loops in the pom-pom. Fluff it out, and trim any uneven ends. Using the tails from the piece that tied the pom-pom, secure it to the top of the hat.
- Weave in ends. You’re finished!
