Newly added to my library is a lacy cowl free crochet pattern! I love this project because it’s super quick and easy and is perfect for beginners. It’s made with a worsted weight yarn combined with a large hook to give it a pretty lacy effect and incredible drape. Make a whole bunch for all of your favorite fall outfits, give them for handmade gifts, or sell the finished cowls in your Etsy shop!

Notes
- The length of this cowl can be adjusted to preference. You can make it a single layer cowl, or you can make it longer so that it wears around the next as a doubled cowl.
- The chain 2 at the end/beginning of each row does count as a stitch.
- The chain 1’s also count as a stitch because it is in place of the skipped stitch in the pattern.

Chain 40.
Row 1: Hdc in 2nd chain from hook, ch 1, skip next ch, *hdc in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch; repeat from * across, ending with a hdc in the last chain. Ch 2, turn.
Row 2: *Hdc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1; repeat from * across. Hdc in the end chain sts from the previous row. Ch 2, turn.
Row 3: *Hdc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1; repeat from * across. Hdc in turning ch 2. Ch 2, turn.
Repeat row 3 until the piece measures 36 inches or the desired length.
NOTE: This is the length for a single layer cowl (as pictured). If you’d like it to be able to wear it doubled, then work until the piece measures approximately double that length.
Finishing
Match up the two short ends of the cowl, and seam together using a method of your choice. I prefer to use a basic slip stitch or single crochet seam. Weave in ends.
