- Chain 2 at beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to first double crochet.

Free Crochet Cocoon Pattern
With P hook, chain 2.
Round 1: 12 dc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2. 2dc in same st, *2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts) Round 3: Ch 2. Dc in same st, dc in next 2 sts, 2dc in next st, *dc in next 3 sts, 2dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (30 sts)
Round 4-14: Ch 2. Dc in same st, *dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (30 sts)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Free Crochet Hat Pattern
With N hook, chain 2.
Round 1: 12 dc in 2nd ch from hook. Join. (12 sts)
Round 2: Ch 2. 2dc in same st, 2dc in next 2 sts, dc in next st, *2dc in next 3 sts, dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (20 sts)
Round 3-5: Ch 2. Dc in same st, *dc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (20 sts) Fasten off.
