Newborn Cocoon Crochet Pattern
Supplies
1 skein Lion Brand Hometown Yarn (or comparable super bulky weight yarn)
Size P crochet hook
Tapestry needle
Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St: stitch
Hdc: half double crochet
2hdc: work 2 half double crochet in next stitch
Hdc2tog: work the next 2 hdc stitches together (decrease)
Size
Approximately 15” by 8”

Notes
This pod is worked seamlessly. Instead of joining each round with a slip stitch, you will mark the beginning of each round with a scrap piece of yarn, and move it up as you begin each new round.
I used the entire skein of this yarn, except for about 12-15 inches. If your tension is typically on the tighter side, you may want to have 2 skeins on hand.
Crochet Cocoon Pattern
Ch 3. Join into a ring.
Round 1: 6 hdc in ring. Place marker and move up as you go along. (6 sts)
Round 2: 2hdc in each st around. (12 sts)
Round 3: *hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (18 sts)
Round 4: *hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (24 sts)
Round 5: *hdc in next 3 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (30 sts)
Round 6: *hdc in next 4 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (36 sts)
Round 7: *hdc in next 5 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (42 sts)
Round 8: *hdc in next 6 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. (48 sts)
Round 9: hdc in each st around.
Round 10: *hdc in next 6 sts, hdc2tog; repeat from * around. (42 sts)
Fasten off.
