These super-sweet crochet baby sandals are so fun to make, and they feel like they would be incredibly comfy to wear! The sole is soft and cushy, and there is nothing that goes in between the toes!

Notes
1. The chain stitches at the beginning of rounds do not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to first stitch.
2. Remember that these sizes are approximate, and the average sizes for the ages that are listed. Some babies are smaller or larger, so working the size up or down may be necessary.
3. To make the Newborn to 6 months sandals closer to the newborn size, use a light worsted weight or DK weight yarn, and a size F crochet hook. To make them closer to a 3 months size, use a medium worsted weight yarn and size G crochet hook. To make them closer to a 6 months size, use a medium to heavy worsted weight yarn and size H crochet hook.
4. The same idea from above applies to all of the size ranges if needed.
Crochet Baby Sandals–Newborn to 6 Months
Sole–make 2
Ch 7.
Round 1: Hdc in 2nd chain from hook, hdc in next 4 chs, 5hdc in the last ch. {Working in free/unworked loops from beginning chain, and on the other side of the stitches just made} Hdc in next 4 chs, 5hdc in the last ch. Join. (19 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1. Hdc in next 6 sts, 2hdc in next 4 sts, hdc in next 5 sts, 2hdc in last 4 sts. Join. (27 sts)
Fasten off the first sole. Do not fasten off when you are finished with the 2nd sole.
Sole Assembly
Hold the two sole pieces together, with wrong sides facing together. Insert hook into the next stitch of the sole that is not fastened off, and then insert the hook into the coordinating stitch of the other sole. Yarn over, pull yarn through all four loops (slip stitch worked).
Continue to work around the sandal sole, slip stitching the two pieces together.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Front Strap
Attach yarn to any stitch near to toe of the sole. I typically attach to the 4th stitch from the tip of the toe, on the right-hand side of the sole. (At this point, there isn’t a difference between the two ends of the sole, so you’ll just pick an end to be the toe.)
Row 1: Sc in same st that you’ve joined yarn to, sc in next 3 sts. Ch 1, turn. (4 sts) Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (4 sts)
Repeat row 2 until the strap is long enough to reach across the sole piece, and extend about 3⁄4” – 1” over.
Slip stitch the loose end of this piece to the other side of the sole. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Back Strap
Attach yarn to the inside edge of the front strap, at the 2nd stitch up from the sole. It does not matter which side of the front strap that you attach it to.
Row 1: Sc in same st, sc in next 3 sts. Ch 1, turn. (4 sts) (NOTE: If you’d like your back strap to be a little bit narrower than the front strap, make it 3 sts wide instead of 4.)
Row 2: Sc in each st across. Ch 1, turn. (4 sts)
Repeat row 2 until the strap is long enough to reach around toward the heel of the sole, and back to the other side of the front strap. (I like to make my strap so that it’s a little bit shorter than the sole and so that it holds the baby’s heel nicely.) Slip stitch the loose end of this piece to the other side of the front strap.
Fasten off. Weave in ends.
