Yarn needle
Abbreviations
Ch: chain
St/sts: stitch/stitches
Hdc: half double crochet
Fphdc: front post half double crochet
Bphdc: back post half double crochet

Note
The chain 1 at the beginning of rounds does not count as a stitch. When joining at the end of rounds, join to first stitch.
Messy Bun Hat Crochet Pattern
Chain 24. Being careful not to twist the chain, join into a circle.
Round 1: Ch 1. Hdc in same st, *hdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (24 sts)
Round 2: Ch 1. Hdc in same st, 2hdc in next st, *hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (36 sts)
Round 3: Ch 1. Hdc in same st, hdc in next st, 2hdc in next st, *hdc in next 2 sts, 2hdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join. (48 sts)
Round 4-11: Ch 1. Hdc in each st around. Join. (48 sts)
NOTE: This is where you can adjust the length of the hat. If you’d like it longer or shorter, work fewer or more rounds.
Round 12-15: Ch 1. Fphdc in same st, bphdc in next st, *fphdc in next st, bphdc in next st; repeat from * around. Join.
Fasten off.

This may be a silly question, by the way I love this pattern…I’m at the 4th row. Is it ok that I’m going through front and back posts? I know once I get to the 12th row it’s states front post. Is it okay that I’m going through both at this point(4th row-11)? I’m fairly new at this but your patterns are awesome! I just hope I’m not asking a silly question..
