One of my favorite knitting combinations is a big, chunky yarn along with a lacy stitch pattern. There’s something about the contrast between the big, bulky yarn and a lace stitch itself. This free lace scarf knitting pattern is the perfect example of that!

You could also make this scarf into a dainty, lacy scarf for spring, just by substituting the yarn with not-so-thick cotton yarn, or other warm-weather fiber. Keep in mind that the width would be different if you were to use a thinner yarn, but to me, that seems alright since it would be a spring, summer, or dress accessory scarf.
