In first round how do you insert hook into ch sp when working around hair band? In beginning there are no ch sps.
Posh Patterns says
You will begin by working the Puff Stitches around the hairband. Each Puff Stitch is closed with a chain 1. At the end of round 1, to join and get ready for round 2, you will slip stitch into the first Puff Stitch, and then slip stitch into the chain 1 space that closed that Puff Stitch.
Let me know if you have more questions. :)

Hi….. found this cute bun hat pattern I would like to crochet. However, I read one of your replies but I still cannot figure out how can you insert hook into chp sp when working Round 1 around the hair band when there are no ch sps to begin with to insert hook ??? Or do I insert within the circle of the hair band for the 1st round to do the puff sts ???? Also…. what kind of hair band? Elastic? Tks DOT
Posh Patterns says
Hi Dot!
That is correct — you will work your first round of stitches around the actual hairband (an elastic one) as if it were a magic ring, of sorts. After that first round, you’ll be working into the actual stitches as normal. :)

I have re worked rows 4-10 againa and again. Row 3 ends with 20 puff stitches. And no additional chains are added thru rows 4-10. Does this mean all those rows will also ha be 20 puff stitches? It seems like these rows should increase some.
Posh Patterns says
That is correct. :) The Puff Stitch is a fairly large stitch in general, and when it’s worked with a bulky weight yarn it’s even larger. So 20 Puff Stitches ends up being an average adult size hat. If yours is turning out smaller, try moving up a hook size or two. :)

Hi Tammy this is a fabulous pattern. I really enjoyed crocheting it. As I have very short grey and white hair I bought a grey and white faux fur pom pom and sewed it on the top ? It looks great!!
Best wishes Claire

Hello!
This is a very cute pattern. I was wondering if the size of the hairband mattered.
Thanks!
Michelle
Posh Patterns says
Hi Michelle,
It probably doesn’t matter too much, as long as it wasn’t on the extreme side of small or large. :)

Hi Tammy.
If I start with 12 puff stitches instead of 10, will this increase the size of that, circumference wise? I don’t want to screw the hat up. Thx!
Kelly Rouse
Posh Patterns says
Hi Kelly,
Thank you for your question!
Yes, if you begin with 12 stitches instead of 10, the circumference of the hat will be larger because you’ll be working on a larger number of stitches throughout the pattern. Instead of working the main part of the hat on 20 puff stitches, you’d be working with 24 puff stitches. Since the puff stitch is a fairly sizeable stitch, it will make it larger. However, if you’d like it to be larger it might be fine. :)
Thanks again!

Awesome! Thanks for your quick response. I thought that was the case, but wanted to check. I have someone that wants one, but has a larger head.
Posh Patterns says
You’re welcome! That might be perfect then. :)

This looks like a really cute pattern. My daughter has asked me to make her one of the bun caps and this is one of the more unique ones that I have seen. I can’t wait to try it.

Have been looking for a puff stitch for a pony tail. Am going to make it with smaller hook and thinner yarn for my tiny great granddaughter who has lots of hair.

Posh Patterns says
Hi there!
Thank you for asking first. :) You have permission to sell the finished hats/items that you make from my pattern, but the pattern itself is copyright protected so it cannot be sold, resold, altered, or shared anywhere except for my blog and shops. But definitely, make and sell as many finished hats as you like! I encourage it!
