Elegant Seed Stitch Scarf Knitting Pattern
Supplies
2 Skeins Knit Picks Biggo (The yarn that is pictured is Rowan Plaid, which is discontinued. However, I’ve made this scarf with Knit Picks Biggo, and it turns out fantastic!)
Size US 11 Single Point Needles
Tapestry Needle
Abbreviations
St: stitch
K: knit
P: purl
Size
Approximately 80 inches long and 6 inches wide.
Quick Tip
I like to cut all of my fringes first, before knitting the scarf. That way, you can just knit until you run out of yarn, without having to worry about leaving enough left over for your fringe. :-)
Free Seed Stitch Scarf Knitting Pattern
Cast on 19 sts.
Row 1: *K1, P1; repeat from * across, knit last st.
Repeat row 1 until scarf reaches the desired length. The scarf shown is approximately 80 inches before the fringe is added.
Bind off. Weave in ends. Block if desired.
Fringe
Cut 20 lengths of yarn that are approximately 12 inches each. I attached 10 fringes to each end of the scarf, but you can choose to add more or less.
Take a length of yarn, fold it in half and insert the folded end through one of the stitches at the end of the scarf until the loop is passed about 2 inches through. Take the two ends of the length of yarn and loop them through the loop of the folded end and pull tight.
Repeat this process for each piece of fringe on both ends of the scarf.
You’re finished!

Thank you so much for sharing this pattern Tammy. I recently had some dear friends visit from Australia, as our seasons are reversed over there, I made these for them to take home to their cold winter. I found it lovely to knit, never boring and it knitted up in no time.

What weight is yarn do you reccomend?
Posh Patterns says
Hi Jayme,
The yarn that is shown in the supply list is Knit Picks Biggo, which is a #5 bulky weight yarn. :) Any #5 bulky weight should work fine.
